NE State Advocacy Days

State advocacy days are one of the major highlights of local chapter advocacy programs. During these advocacy days, NBDF teams with local chapters, volunteers, and other organizations to host a day of advocacy. Training is followed by legislative meetings where advocates meet with their elected officials to educate them about bleeding disorders. Constituents may visit representatives for various reasons including to educate them, build relationships, thank them, and advocate for or against a piece of legislation.

State advocacy days give elected officials the opportunity to learn firsthand from affected individuals and families how expensive treating bleeding orders can be, and how important it is to have access to comprehensive care and continuity of care. Legislators learn how not having access to the proper treatment can be detrimental to the health of someone with a bleeding disorder, and potentially cost the state a lot of money in the long run.

Putting a face to bleeding disorders makes a significant impact.

**Nebraska NBDF will make appointments with your Legislator on the 18th if you would like to have an in person meeting and your legislator is available for in person meetings. We will set up virtual zoom calls between the 19th-21st for those who prefer a virtual setting and accompany you to these meetings to tell your story and advocate for the bleeding disorder community here in Nebraska.

Your health. Your story. Your voice.

Join us for advocacy training on how to best talk to your legislators about bleeding disorders in Nebraska. We want to bring you and the Red Tie Campaign to the Capital to engage our law makers in the bleeding disorders community. Whether you have a lot or no advocacy experience, we want to see you there! We will give you all the tools and coach you in the best ways to talk to your representative.
